How long have you been doing FITCon?
Started in August 2017 when the FITCon/ Whole Life Challenge started.
What made you decide to give FITCon a try?
A coach from the gym encouraged me to give it a go, and being I was still new to island, thought it would be fun to try something new and challenging.
What was the hardest part when you started out and how did you overcome that?
Balancing working out and nutrition and beach volleyball. My coach really gave me the tools to help prioritize what was most important.
What’s your favorite part about working out at 7 Mile Strength & Fitness?
The sense of family and community, hands down.
A new month, a new year AND a new decade!! What are some things you would like to accomplish?
I would like to continue to keep my balance between my physical activities and maybe make it into some CrossFit classes!
Name something you’re most proud of in the gym.
I am very particular about my form and movements so when I let that go a little I feel proud of myself when I’m ready to push and my coach just says, “go for it, Jo” and always ends up a positive experience whether I hit a number or weight I was looking for or not.
You’ve been doing FITCon with us for awhile now. Name a few things that you have seen improve since working out with us. I know you also play beach volleyball – do you think doing our FITCon classes has helped your volleyball game?
FITCon definitely helps with all aspects of beach volleyball, the workouts almost always include cardio and a strength piece. Classes are small which allows for more precise coaching and the ability to modify to fit my needs. My stamina and overall fitness has definitely improved. I also incorporate things I learn in FITCon into my profession as a pediatric occupational therapist.
Did you play any sports growing up?
Growing up I played a sport each season. Tennis, Gymnastics, Basketball, Softball, Volleyball.
Any sports you want to try now?
Just continue with my beach volleyball, that’s my happy place.
Anything people at 7 Mile Strength & Fitness don’t know about you?
Most likely yes…but I like to be as cheerful as possible during our classes, but I’m actually quite shy.
Anything crazy on your bucket list? (bungee jumping, sky diving?)
Nothing too crazy. sky diving would be cool, but took my father to his native country Poland this year and cannot wait to be able to travel more with him!
What is your favourite WOD and why?
No favorites, but do love slam balls! I love walking in to see what surprise FITCon has in store for us!
What is your least favorite WOD and why?
Not a burpee fan, but due to a previous injury, the movement is just not my friend.
What has been your biggest surprise about doing FITCon?
That I don’t get tired of it! I may be tired from my work week or volleyball, but the workouts are all generally different and challenging in different ways.
Would you recommend 7 Mile Strength & Fitness to others and if so, why?
Always! The sense of family in the gym is great to start, but all coaches are dedicated and classes are fun and challenging!
